We are not brains in a bag of meat. We are bodies. We will carry these structures with ourselves for the rest of our lives. They are the closest things to us. As a culture we do not value the body as much as we should. We are too cerebral, too neurotic, too analytical.
Why do you try and master your mind but not your body?
Why do you make your home beautiful but not your body?
Why do you make your career grand but not your body?
My philosophy has placed more weight on embodiment, a lot due to this PewDiePie video on Mishima and the subsequent rabbit hole. There is a moment where he looks around the room, sees the jocks, who are strong, in the sun, confident. And he sees the nerds, who are chronic, bent over, scrawny, insecure. This picture is a good corrective to the capitalist world that rewards highly specialized knowledge workers (the nerds!)
